MBA will make you Employable

According to the data published by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), close to 92 percent of the graduates from business schools worldwide found employment within 3 months after graduation in 2012. This is a six percent increase as compared to 2011.

This shows that people with MBA are high in demand. Students who pursue an MBA are empowered with interpersonal and leadership skills, which are sought after by multinational corporations (MNCs) and local companies.

To be a successful professional, you should have a strong network and be well connected with people in your field. This is possible in a business school, where organizations come on a regular basis to give talks and for job and internship placements. Students can build their networks through such events and enhance their employability as a result.

After the completion of MBA, students are employed in managerial positions. As a manager, you will be required to work in large teams and lead your subordinates. These skills are honed during an MBA, where you will be involved in projects and group presentations. So, during your business studies make it a point to participate actively in projects and classes to enhance your leadership skills.

Just an MBA degree is not sufficient to gain employment; you should be passionate and determined to succeed. The business environment is full of ups and downs; so, potential business leaders should have the foresight to make proper decisions for the benefit of the company.

What is expected from you in XAT 2014?

In XAT 2014 exam, unlike other MBA entrance tests, candidates need to be more attentive in selecting which question to solve and what to drop without wasting much time. This is an important aspect of XAT examination as it throws more number of questions to be solved in less time.

In such a pressure building scenario, students need not lose their nerve and solve easier looking questions before attempting tough or complicated questions.

However, selection of easier questions is very difficult as they are very well inserted between the tougher questions that are speed breakers in such competitive exams.

But, it is not impossible to master the skill of scrutinizing questions and one could polish this skill by regress practice and disciplined preparation.

For instance, one can easily find simpler questions based upon algebra and trigonometry, between two questions which might involve application of calculus.

Though the questions based upon calculus and functions are themselves on decline as observed in the past.

Thus, XAT 2014 on 5th January will primarily test three skills in any aspiring student:
  • Decision making abilities,
  • Pressure handling and meeting deadline capability
  • Ability to capitalize on ones' strengths

As the questions can be from any general topic- economics, psychology, philosophy, sociology, politics, medicine, science, culture, arts, etc. It is important to inculcate good reading habits.

What will be the pattern of the CAT 2013 exam?

One of the reasons why CAT is considered tough is that the pattern changes from year to year. In the 1990s, it was a four-section test with English making up the major chunk. However, from 1999, CAT has become a three-section exam with English taking up just one third of the total paper.

The pattern form the last three years is of a computer – based test. A candidate has to register and then he/she is allotted a centre, a specific date and time as well and when the candidate arrives at the centre, a computer machine is prepared for the candidate.

Since the inception of this computer – based CAT, there are only two sections in CAT paper now. Quantitative Ability (QA) & Data Interpretation (DI) and Verbal Ability (VA) & Logical Reasoning.(LR)

You must also do practice with CAT Mock Tests

Time and tide wait for no man

In universities, we are taught time management skills because our life is essentially a race against time. We have so many tasks at hand but very little time. This is why prioritization of work is important so that no time is wasted along the way.

Procrastination is common in the field of education. Students neglect their studies during their school term and wait till the last minute to prepare for examinations.

They spend so much time playing games and chatting with friends that they eventually lose track of time and start panicking at the last moment – a few days before the examinations. These are the students that do not perform to their optimum level in the examinations.

Toppers, on the other hand, are consistent in their studies and strike the right balance between education and play. They never panic at the last moment because they are already well-prepared for their examinations.

Time is just like a river; it keeps flowing forward and never turns back. You may delay your work and wait for the last minute to complete your tasks at hand, but time will continue to move forward.
