Make Vocabulary strong for CAT 2013

For CAT, a good vocabulary is very essential, although CAT does not test candidates on their knowledge of difficult words directly. This is because the passages and answer options given in the Reading Comprehension section may have some difficult words. Not knowing their meaning could decrease the candidate’s ability to understand the passage.

Questions based on testing one's vocabulary - the plain "synonym - antonym" questions used to appear in CAT in the early 2000's; these have become very rare over the past 10 years.

Although a good vocabulary definitely helps in handling CAT, purely vocab-based questions are almost non-existent these days. Quite a few words have an interesting origin, and there is a story, legend or myth associated with them. A number of words come to us from Roman or Greek mythology.

CAT Background and Sections

The difference between the paper and pencil test and the online test is that now the tests are conducted online otherwise, almost everything remains the same. Candidates are provided with sheets for rough calculations.

The right answer is clicked using the mouse. Candidates can also scroll the entire paper and start from wherever they want.

Likewise they can also change their answers. But all these has to be completed within stipulated time as there will be an on-screen countdown timer for each section. Once the time ends for the first section, candidates will move on to the second without having the option of being able to come back.
Thus, time management will have an inevitable part to play in CAT 2013.

There will be only 2 Sections in CAT 2013
